We need your support! Please take a moment and consider a donation to the Vienna Zen Community: It’s about preserving the beautiful Zen Center and keeping the Zen teaching, meditation and Sangha alive!

We moved into our new premises in September 2022: The move was an organizational, athletic, and financial tour de force for everyone involved. In 2023, the focus will be on consolidating the new location and opening up the practice to more people in town and online.

What is planned:

  • Complete the furnishing of the new Zen Center

In order to fully operate the new Zen Center, some investments (purchases and repairs) are still needed: Dharma meeting room furnishings, window blinds, retreat kitchenware, etc.

Amount needed: EUR 2.000,-

…………………………………………

  • Ongoing activities of the new Zen Center

We currently have to pay for monthly costs of EUR 1.200,-.

The ongoing maintenance of the Zen Center (rent, operating costs) for the year 2023 can be supported with a one-time payment or a regular monthly amount!

…………………………………………

  • Investment in the improvement of technical equipment

In order to be able to reach people outside of Vienna (or those who are unfortunately not mobile) with our practice, Dharma talks, Koan meetings and events, we need a small laptop, tablet, etc. – Small donations of a few euros are also helpful here!

Amount needed: EUR 1.000,-.

…………………………………………

  • Scholarships for retreat attendance

It is sometimes financially difficult for students to participate in longer Zen retreats lasting up to three months. To sponsor a retreat week for one person, we need EUR 250. The goal is to establish a scholarship fund for 12 retreat weeks.

Amount needed: EUR 3.000,-.

The Vienna Zen Center, located in the picturesque Bernardgasse in Vienna’s 7th district, is designed to help promote Zen teachings, meditation, as well as community (Sangha).

The Kwan Um School of Zen (Korean Zen Community) in Austria was founded in 1994 and is a non-profit association financed by membership fees and donations. The Kwan Um School of Zen is an officially registered order of the Austrian Buddhist Religious Community (ÖBR).

Practicing Zen together helps us find our inherent sources of wisdom, peacefulness, and compassion. We meditate and practice together at the Zen Center and online: In this way we discover a compassionate mind and can contribute to making the world a little better: for the benefit of our fellow human beings, for the benefit of animals and nature, for the benefit of peace and ecology.
