☉ Zentrum Wien :: Newsletter Januar 2023
Dear Reader,
Writing „moon“ and „snow“ –
How I have indulged myself
the end of the year! (Matsuo Basho)
The holidays are over, and we all start a new year. With this newsletter, the Vienna Zen Center gives you a brief overview of the most important events in 2023.
After moving to new premises in Vienna’s 7th district, we are able to offer an additional date for personal practice since October: „Zen on Wednesday mornings“ will take place from 7 to 8 am and will be led by Leo Welsch, SDT.
This means that in the future we will offer you four dates per week for practice: Monday (hybrid: at the Zen Center and online), Wednesday (at the Zen Center), Thursday (online), and Sunday (online) – you can find the overview at the end of this letter.
Since September there is another teacher authorized to give koan teachings: You know Jan Sendzimir as a previous host at the Zen Center Kolingasse as well as an abbot of our school. Congratulations! – We are looking forward to the three retreats led by Alma, Jan, and Knud this year!
We hope to see you soon at the practice online or at the Zen Center – but at the latest at one of the Zen Days or Retreats: Please write to ta.ne1685994435zmuna1685994435wk@of1685994435ni1685994435 if you want to know more about the events or the practice, or if you have questions for our teachers: We will be happy to forward your mail!
With warm regards
In the Dharma
Your team from Zen Center Vienna

Please write to ta.ne1685994435zmuna1685994435wk@of1685994435ni1685994435 if you are interested in these walks!

Jan Sendzimir, JDPSN: „Where is Home?“ („Inka Speech“, Dharma Note)
We have a new teacher: Jan Sendzimir, JDPSN!
In September, there was a major meeting of teachers from the European Kwan Um School of Zen in Kosice (Slovakia). There our abbot, Jan Sendzimir, received the so-called „Inka“ (=teaching authorization). This happens in a traditional ceremony, which also includes a programmatic speech. You can read this speech, held in English, on our website: Jan Sendzimir JDPS: „Where is Home?“ (Dharma Note).
Jan talks about his life on several continents and ponders where „home“ might be found: in a specific geographical region? In books? In philosophy or in science?
– „Take away searching and missing- then what is this?“ –
